Fika is a concept, a state of mind, an attitude and an important part of Swedish culture. Many Swedes consider it almost essential to make time for Fika every day. It means making time for friends and colleagues to share a cup of coffee (or tea) and something to eat.

Fika is a ritual. All Swedes think it is important to take time to stop and make contacts: to take a break. It refreshes the brain and strengthens relationships. Often it is time for a relaxed but very productive conversation. Contrary to appearances, this is the time when the most difficult problems are solved. It makes economic sense: companies have better teams and are more productive when fika is institutionalized.
Unfortunately, due to the situation in the world it is often impossible to return to traditional Fika. That is why a very interesting variation of Fika, called DIGITAL FIKA. has appeared:
DIGITAL FIKA? – what is it about?
It is about returning to traditional meetings with friends or co-workers but at a distance. New technology comes to our assistance here. Nowadays it is no longer a problem to make a video conversation or a video conference. Coffee or tea and homemade cakes are of course an essential addition to this. In our opinion DIGITAL FIKA caan be a very interesting alternative to traditional meetings and certainly a temporary solution until everything returns to normal.
Wherever you live, instead of the situation, give fika a try in your daily schedule. You can never be too busy for fika!
