Sustainability of handmade oak furniture
Oak is a durable and sustainable material that can be used to create beautiful furniture. When sourcing oak furniture, it is important to look for pieces that have been made using sustainable practices. This includes using wood from certified forests and using finishes and treatments that are safe for the environment.
Oak furniture can last for generations if it is properly cared for. This makes it a great choice for those who are looking for pieces that will stand the test of time. In addition, oak furniture is relatively easy to repair and refinish, so it can be passed down through the generations.
When shopping for sustainable oak furniture, it is important to look for pieces that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. This certification ensures that the furniture has been made using sustainable practices.

Responsible furniture production
We take full responsibility for all parts and details of our work before, during, and after the product leaves our hands.
Our collection is designed to meet the needs and demands for functional, eco-friendly and unique design today, tomorrow, and beyond.
When developing products, the focus is on the entire life cycle of the product, from raw material extraction to production, distribution, and disposal:
- toxic substances are not used during the production process
- a high percentage of the wood used comes from legally sustainably managed forests or, in the case of some table models, from recycled wood sources
- production waste is reused or disposed of appropriately
- we use is FSC-certified wood. The FSC label provides a powerful link between the responsible production and consumption of forest products, bringing together environmental, social, and economic interests in a balanced way to work towards sustainable solutions.
Wood furniture made by local skilled craftsmen
We manufacture in Europe and work with the most qualified specialists. Our aim is to create workplaces and support local businesses. 100% of our collection is made in Poland by local small manufacturers, who value natural and sustainable furniture production. We also use only natural and locally sourced materials to produce solid wood furniture, while supporting the environment and local suppliers from Poland.
Thanks to the craftsmen’s critical eyes and skilled hands, they make handmade oak furniture that exceed our customers’ expectations, and at the same time, they are eco-friendly furniture.
Wood furniture created for durability
Sustainable furniture design is key.
If something is designed to last a long time or can be easily repaired, the likelihood of being thrown away is reduced and you may even save money in the long run so you don’t have to buy a replacement part. The environmental impact of producing two items versus one should always be considered when choosing a new handmade oak table.
Designing and manufacturing quality products that last for many decades is our mission – every time we create new designs at SFD. Packaging, wood care products, and final product recycling are also to be considered as we work tirelessly towards extending the longevity of solid oak furniture.
